The Best Looks from the 2022 Met Gala
This year’s Met Gala was an exceptional night, with some of the best looks the Met Gala has ever had. The event was hosted by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel-Miranda, and Regina King. The two-part exhibition of the Met Gala was In America: An Anthology of Fashion. The dress code of this year’s Met Gala was Gilded Glamour. The attendees were asked to put their own spin on New York’s Gilded Age “through a modern lens,” Vogue states. The Gilded Age was an era from 1870 to 1890/1900. There were so many stellar looks from this year, but here were some of the ones that stuck out to me.
Hailey Beiber in Saint Laurent
Hailey Beiber looked effortlessly gorgeous this year. The natural makeup, sheer black tights, and simple black heels all elevated the white silk dress. This look of Beiber’s was very pleasing, as it gave us all that we wanted.
Phoebe Bridgers in a Jonathan Simkhai Gown and Cartier Jewelry
The all-powerful Phoebe Bridgers looked like a dazzling dream in her Jonathan Simkhai gown. Her dark maroon lips tied the look together.
Emma Chamberlain in Louis Vuitton
Emma Chamberlain looked unbelievably sophisticated yet young in this Louis Vittioun two-piece. She changed her hair into a bold blonde bob for the Met instead of her usual collarbone-length brown hair. This look proved that she looks good in any hairstyle she wears, and we are excited to see what else she does with this hair.
Jessica Chastain in Gucci
Jessica Chastain looked splendid in her red sequin Gucci dress. The greatest part of this look was the snake wrapping around her waist and decolletage.
Emma Corrin in Custom Miu Miu and Cartier jewelry
Emma Corrin took strange to the next level at this year’s Met Gala. The white tights and the top hat added elements that nobody else could have pulled off.
Ariana DeBose in Moschino
Ariana DeBose was inventive with her Moschino gown. The most delicate parts about this look were her makeup and the gold “collar.”
Billie Eilish in Custom Gucci Gown and Fred Leighton Jewelry
Billie Eilish looked gorgeous in her custom Gucci corset gown. Now, most people this year missed the mark on the theme, but Eilish came to the Met perfectly in theme. The corset and gown are flattering and stunning. The details add so much flair to this look. It’s also incredible that Eilish’s dress was made entirely from recycled materials. Personally, this is my absolute favorite look from the night.
Jacob Elordi in Custom Burberry suit and David Yurman Jewelry
This custom Burberry suit that Jacob Elordi wore had me starstruck, even though it’s a simple look. Maybe it’s the suit, or that Elordi was in it. The details of this look make it everything we needed: the rings, the hair, the embellishments on the suit. The simplistic look stood out more than the looks that were giving too much.
Finneas in Gucci
Finneas blew our minds with his Met Gala look this year. This is one of Finneas’ best looks ever, with his lavender flowy top with a bow, grey-blue vest, and a pleated duster. His slicked-back hair showed off his features and added to the look. We are looking forward to seeing what his next outfit is.
Kaia Gerber in Alexander McQueen
Kaia Gerber wore a stunning, shimmering silver see-through Alexander McQueen dress with cutouts. The remarkable detailing on the dress pulls the whole look together, but her hair is what everyone is looking at. Gerber’s hair was its longest yet, reaching all the way to her waist. The curls were voluminous and powerful, making this one of her best looks to date.
Conan Gray in Valentino
Conan Gray, sorry, I believe you meant Conan Slay. This bold and striking look from Gray wowed the crowd and shocked everyone. This was Gray’s first Met Gala, and this was a success with this Valentino outfit.
Gunna in Thom Browne with Ledger Nano X wallet
Gunna looked exceptional in Thom Browne. The coolest part of the look was his dog wallet. The gold vine trim on the full black outfit seemed to be a common theme within all of the Thom Browne looks.
Bella Hadid in Burberry Gown and Briony Raymond Jewelry
Bella Hadid came to the Met Gala looking stunning, as always, in a Burberry dress. She also wore Briony Raymond jewelry which was subtle but so noticeable. Her corset ties in the theme and the tights and pearls on her ankle make the look 10 times better.
Gigi Hadid in Versace
Gigi Hadid came this year wearing Versace. In an Instagram post, she stated that “Versace made this epic puffer inspired by the exaggerated proportions that womenswear took on in the 1800s paired with the corset and Dollman silhouette that is so true to Versace.”
Jack Harlow in Givenchy
Jack Harlow did-in-fact look first-class in this chocolate brown satin suit by Givenchy. This brown color made his blue eyes pop. He looked handsome in his matching monochromatic tie.
Lily James in Versace
Lily James’ elegant gown was made by Versace. She paired the gown with slicked-back hair and monochromatic eye makeup.
Kendall Jenner in Prada
Now, this is not my favorite Met Gala look from Kendall Jenner, but I still think she rocked this look. I believe that her 2021 (especially) and 2019 looks were her best. Her Prada dress was simple, with a long train. Jenner’s unexpected makeup look was bold, with her eyebrows bleached. This look was a head-turner.
Daisy Edgar-Jones in Oscar de la Renta
Daisy Edgar-Jones looked chic in a shimmery flapper dress by Oscar de la Renta. This was also her first Met Gala, and she was breathtaking.
Lizzo in Thom Browne
The flute queen Lizzo came to this Met Gala in an elegant Thom Browne outfit. The gold roses and vines were gorgeous and made this look delightful. The standout piece was her flute, which was 18 karat gold.
Shawn Mendes in Tommy Hilfiger
Shawn Mendes was looking his best yet this year. The collar on the coat is turned up, showing off his flowing locks of hair. This look of his is very reminiscent of Gaston, from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
Regé-Jean Page in Armani suit
Regé-Jean Page looked dapper in his Armani suit. Look at that smile! It captures everything, it looks as though he is beaming with joy.
Olivia Rodrigo in Versace
Olivia Rodrigo is a gorgeous girl in a gorgeous outfit, but did this fit the theme? The answer is no, not at all. This look, as amazing as it is, looked like one of her concert outfits. With that aside, the signature lavender butterflies made her hair look elegant, and the heels made the whole look timeless.
Rosalía in Custom Givenchy
It seems that many celebrities didn’t quite fit the theme of Gilded Glamour this year, but Rosalía took an amazing modern twist on this year’s theme. Her sunglasses add a special touch, making this look hers. She rocked this look in a Givenchy gown that was cream, with many details.
Megan Thee Stallion in Moschino Gown
Megan Thee Stallion looked quite glamorous and chic, with her gold gown by Moschino. The feather details on her “shrug,” the see-through cutouts, and the massive slit in the gown make this look even better.
Sydney Sweeney in Tory Burch
Sydney Sweeny looked divine in her clean and simple white Tory Burch gown. Her hair adds dimension to this look.
Jasmine Tookes in Zuhair Murad Couture and Chopard Jewelry
This look was everything we needed and more from Jasmine Tooks. She wore the most eye-grabbing jade-colored dress, with black sparkle lace gloves. The jade pendant matched the dress perfectly, making this look outstanding.
Now, we all have our own opinions, and these were just some of my favorite looks from the night. Hands down, my favorite look of the night was Billie Eilish. She looked beautiful, and fit the theme perfectly. Don’t be shy to comment on your favorite that was or wasn’t on this list in the comment section!
