Ways You Can Help Ukraine

Devastatingly, millions of people have been forced to evacuate their homes because of the war in Ukraine (learn more with these live updates on Washignton Square Post), and family members have been separated in all the chaos. Many will now deal with lifelong trauma because of the war and have experienced unspeakable horrors. Every person must do their part to help those in Ukraine, and if you’re looking for somewhere to start, below is a list of organizations you can send donations and supplies to.

Heart2Heart
Heart2Heart aspires to help at-risk Ukrainian citizens that have no way to access help. They explain that they, “collect, sort, and deliver donations to volunteers in Ukraine, who pass them hand-to-hand, heart-to-heart, and family-to-family.” Volunteers have the option of donating money or items from a list they provide to Ukrainians, as well as the option to volunteer to drive donations in the Bay Area to the “MEEST” office in Sacramento. (MSF) Doctors Without Borders
MSF has teams in Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Belarus, and Russia, who are all working to help Ukraine. They explain that currently, their “staff are on the ground in Ukraine,” and that they are, “assessing humanitarian needs, delivering urgent medical supplies, providing training to hospitals on how to manage mass casualty incidents, and preparing to further expand activities.” MSF states that they have been able to bring over 4,200 cubic feet of medical supplies to hospitals and other locations where they are needed immensely. To help them continue with their work, you can donate money on their website.

Save The Children
Save the Children shares with their volunteers that, “Nearly 200 million children are living in the most lethal war zones, experiencing unspeakable horrors with devastating and life change consequences. They are in desperate need of care and protection.” So many Ukrainian children are being affected by this war. From having to leave homes, to losing family members, to experiencing bombings, it is impossible to put into words what these children have experienced. To help out, you can donate to Save the Children and assist them in helping as many Ukrainian children as possible here.

World Food Program – USA
The World Food Program sends food to children in Ukraine, and other families in desperate need of nourishment. They additionally deliver kits to families amid emergencies. If you want to support their cause and help deliver food to children and families in their time of need, you can donate money here.

There are many ways you can help support Ukrainian citizens in their time of need, and it’s important to remember that age should not limit who or how you support in times of need. Donating to these organizations is a great way to help Ukraine, and they are great resources you can share with family, friends, and classmates so they can help out too.
