On November 25th, 2022, BlockBerry Creative (BBC), LOONA’s agency, announced to the public that they had dismissed the now former member Chuu, making LOONA an 11-member K-pop girl group instead of the original 12. The agency alleged that Chuu “abused her power and used violent language” toward company staff members.

BBC released another statement on November 28th on LOONA’s official fan cafe (a blog for the group), adding on to the statement they released on the 25th for clarification. They stated that the notice “was an announcement with information explaining the current situation and asking for understanding [from] all the fans who showed love to LOONA for a long period. It was not written to expose Chuu’s misuse of power to the public and media,” and how it was natural to explain the reason for the removal from the group. They also stated that it was “the right of Chuu and the staff who were harmed to provide the truth or evidence [of the situation].”

That was not the only thing that shocked Orbits (LOONA’s fanbase name), however. Orbits were also presented with information on November 28th, 2022, that nine other members of LOONA want to eliminate their contracts with BBC. Those nine other members – Heejin, Haseul, Yeojin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye – are currently in the legal process to get their exclusive contracts terminated. The two remaining members (ViVi and HyunJin) are most likely not able to get rid of their contracts with BBC due to already being booked with many things before this situation happened.

The same day, Chuu finally made her first public post to the world after her contract was terminated. In that post, Chuu showed her appreciation to her fans for all the concern and support they gave to her over the first days since her withdrawal from LOONA. She also explained how she was still “grasping the situation”.
