“Encanto”: We Should Talk About It

“Encanto” is a movie that tells the story of the Madrigal family. The Madrigals live in a magical house and in a mystic town, “Encanto”. “Encanto” is surrounded by tall mountains, sheltering the family. Every kid in the family was blessed with a unique gift, except Mirabel. Mirabel is also the main character in this film. Mirabel then discovers that the family’s miracle is in danger and tries to keep the miracle alive.

“Encanto” is an animated adventure film that takes place in Columbia. The movie is a little over an hour and a half, with a total of 8 original songs written by the talented Lin-Manuel Miranda. “Encanto” has amazing songs and powerful messages. This movie is great for people of all ages. The storyline was very intriguing and the jokes managed to pull everything together.

The producers of “Encanto” also have been praised for their animation style because of the techniques that Disney uses. I also find the animation beautiful–all the characters’ hair and clothing seemed incredibly realistic and looked amazing. It is clear that the producers put a lot of effort into “Encanto” and in the end, it turned out just beautiful.
The cast of “Encanto”, the voices behind the Madrigals, include Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Carolina Gaitan, Diane Guerrero, Wilmer Valderrama, Rhenzy Feliz, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, and Adassa. Some of the voice actors are from shows and movies and you might even recognize some names. For example, Leguizamo voices Sid from Ice Age and Beatriz was Clara in the movie/musical In the Heights.

This movie had lots of adventure to it and numerous parts that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Being able to watch this movie when it came out was a great experience and I hope that others get the chance to watch “Encanto” and be teleported to a remarkable world of magic, even if only for a short period of time.
